How do I paint Window frames?
- Use a sunny day when painting your window frames and start early in the morning to allow for drying
- Remove handles
- Make sure you sand down the window frames slightly to allow it to close once painted.
- Use steel wool rather than sandpaper
- Use masking tape to avoid spilling on the glass -however even if you spill paint on the glass it is easily removed with a scraper
- Wipe off all dust
- Use an oil-based sealer or varnish on natural wooden frames
- Use a waterbased enamel which dries quicker and is eco friendly
- Apply by brush (fine bristle) or a small sponge roller
- Remove masking tape when paint is touch-dry
- Paint your window sill to complete the job
- Replace handles
- Clean brush and rollers with water when using waterbased enamel paint
- Wrap brushes used for sealer or varnish in a sealed shopping bag over night to prevent them from drying should you carry on painting the following day
